Cowgirls set to compete at Chili Pepper
October 14, 2005 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
OSU will hope to have the leadership from senior Barbora Kuncova, who has the led the Cowgirls in each meet she has competed in this season.
“Barbora has been a solid leader for the team” said head coach Rene Sepulveda.
The Cowgirls top five runners have been steady throughout the season and hope to continue the early success they have had from senior Valentina Medina, junior Eva Slavikova and sophomores Mary Davies and Eva Tomankova.
“It's a good meet, hopefully we can beat Baylor and Arkansas,” sophomore Mary Davies said.
The Cowgirls will also get needed support from senior Michelle Prowse, whom was a leader and a major contributor to last year's squad. Prowse will run for the first time this season after recovering from a stress fracture suffered last May.
“It is exciting to see Michelle running again,” Sepulveda said. "Prowse has had only 10 running days up to this point, with the majority of her conditioning coming from rowing, swimming and spinning." "Michelle could be one of our scorers by November."
“It is good to have Michelle back because we have missed her fierce competitive nature in our races this season,” Davies said.
With the addition of Prowse, the Cowgirls look even better with the young talent of sophomore Kim Blomkvist, redshirt freshman Brittany Hill and freshmen Anissa Angelosante and Nina Andersson.
Arkansas will host the meet with the gun sounding off at 10:00am. at the Agri Park Cross Country Course.
