Cowgirl Soccer Hosts Baylor and Texas A&M

Oklahoma State will look to get back on track this weekend at home when it hosts Baylor on Friday night at 7 p.m. followed by nationally ranked Texas A&M on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Cowgirls are coming off of a tough weekend where they lost two games at Kansas and Missouri. Baylor leads the all-time series with OSU with a record of 5-2-2. OSU is riding a three-game unbeaten streak against the Bears with a tie last season and victories in 2002 and 2003. The Cowgirls have never beaten Texas A&M who holds the series advantage at 0-10-1. A&M has twice eliminated OSU from the Big 12 Tournament. The Cowgirls did manage a 0-0 tie the last time the Aggies visited Stillwater. All boy and girl scouts receive two dollar admission if they arrive in uniform on Friday night, and all 4-H members get in for two dollars on Sunday.
Scouting the Bears
Baylor is coming off of its first Big 12 win, a 2-1 victory over Iowa State. The Bears currently posess a 3-9-1 record and are 10th in the Big 12 standings with a 1-4 record. BU has played tough all season being on the short end o many close games. The Bears are led on defense by Ashley Holder who leads the Big 12 in saves at 7.15 per game. She has allowed all 23 goals Naylor has given up for an average of 1.79. On offense, BU is led by Brittani Zonker and Tiffany Boshers who each have 10 points. Zonker is the leading goal scorer with four goals and two assists, while Boshers has three goals and four assists.
Scouting the Aggies
Texas A&M is coming off of a heart breaking loss to Iowa State and a victory against 23rd-ranked Nebraska. The Aggies are currently 9-3-1 on the season and tied for fifth in the Big 12 standings with a 3-2 record. The Aggies boast two of the conference leading scorers in Melissa Garey and Ashlee Pistorius at 24 and 21 points, respectively. Garey's 24 points ranks second in the Big 12 and she is tied for the conference lead with 11 goals along with OSU's Jesyca Rosholt. Pistorius' 21 points ranks third in the Big 12, third in goals with eight and she ranks fifth in assists with five. A&M is led on defense by Kati Jo Spisak who leads the Big 12 in goals against Average of 0.69. She has allowed just nine goals on the season.
Rosholt Making an Immediate Impact
Jesyca Rosholt has made her presence known since she arrived at Oklahoma State. The junior transfer from Northern Arizona is making her way up the single season charts. She has now scored 11 goals in her first 12 games as a Cowgirl. She has five assists to go along with her 11 goals to give her 27 points on the season. Her 27 points are currently tops in the Big 12 and her 11 goals are tied for the conference lead. Both numbers are the fifth highest season total in OSU history.
Sharing the Wealth
Oklahoma State has scored 41 goals this season. Jesyca Rosholt currently leads the team with 11 goals after scoring seven goals in her last three home games. She has scored at least two goals in all three of those games: Tulsa (9/18), Texas (9/23) and Texas Tech (10/2). Yolanda Odenyo is second on the team with five goals. Odenyo, Johanna Loistl, Adriane Radtke, Angelika Feldbacher and Rosholt have all scored two goals in a game already this season. Rosholt is the only Cowgirl to score a hat trick when she did so against Tulsa. The Cowgirls have recorded 35 assists to go along with those 41 goals.
Cowgirl Defense Stellar
Oklahoma State only had two shutouts during the entire 2004 season. Already in 2005, the Cowgirls have eight shutouts. Jeanne Rankin has received most of the action in goal and has 22 saves. Bettina Grossmann has played four games and has 11 saves and recorded two shutouts of her own. Breanna Truelove made her first start against Texas Tech and she recorded a shutout. The defense in front of the keepers has been outstanding. The Cowgirls, led by seniors Lauren Colwell and Kalyn Brady, have allowed 11 goals this season and have limited opponents to just nine shots per game.
