Cowgirls to Compete in Two Meets this Weekend

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State women's track and field team will compete at two different meets over the weekend. Most of Cowgirls will compete in Lawrence, Kan., at the 18^th annual Jayhawk Invitational, on Friday at the Anschutz Sports Pavilion and the Bill Easton Track. A few of the other Cowgirls will trip to Seattle, Wash., for the two day competition at the University of Washington Invitational starting on Friday.

At the Jayhawk Invitational, the Cowgirls will travel the throwers, jumpers and a few distance runners.

Cowgirl seniors Delisa McClain and Halee Prickett have been the top two throwers this season for the Cowgirls. McClain has been the top weight thrower for the Cowgirls, and will carry her No. 9 national ranking into this weekends meet at Kansas. McClain has broken the school record in the weight throw twice this season.

Prickett, a senior from Norman, Okla., is returning from an off-week as she sat out after having the flu. She will compete in the shot put and will carry her No.4 national ranking into the events.

The Cowgirls will also look to have strong showings from senior Joanna Fedick and sophomore Maria Trejo, as they compete as part of the distance medley relay team.

Events will begin at 11:30 a.m., with the weight throw and Kansas will be the host of the meet.

At the University of Washington Invitational, the Cowgirls will compete only distance runners.

Junior Barbora Kuncova and freshman Mary Davies will both compete in the 5,000-meter run.

Kuncova, who has the No. 1 ranking in the Big 12 in the mile run, will compete with Cowgirl freshman, Eva Tomankova.

Alison Erzinger, a senior from Houston, Texas, is also coming back from the flu and will compete in the 400-meter run, where she is ranked No. 4 in the Big 12.

Other Cowgirls that will compete at Washington will be senior Catherine Clifford, junior Michelle Prowse and freshman Kim Blomkvist.
