2002-03: Played two seasons at American River College in Sacramento, Calif. ... went 5-3 with a 3.83 ERA as a sophomore with 42 strikeouts in 52 innings ... pitched in 13 games with nine starts and limited opponents to a .224 average ... went 2-0 with a 2.95 ERA as a freshman ... pitched in 11 games with seven starts and struck out 33 batters in 39.2 innings pitched ... limited opponents to just a .192 batting average ... played for the California Bears in the Alaskan Baseball League and went 1-0 with a save and 1.80 ERA ... also considered UC Riverside, Oral Roberts and Kansas State among other schools.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a pitcher/first baseman at Ponderosa High ... lettered two years and was a first-team all-conference and second team all-city selection ... also competed on the ski team in the slalom/giant slalom and was an all-state qualifier ... went 11-2 as a senior and 5-0 as a junior and was the team captain ... played for the Carson Capitols in the summer of 2001 and helped lead the team to a fourth place finish in the travel baseball world series.
