Cowgirls Down Lehigh, 3-1
September 05, 2004 | Cowgirl Soccer
Oklahoma State's soccer team picked up its third road win of the season on Sunday with a 3-1 decision against Lehigh at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
The Cowgirls scored first for the first time this season when Adriane Radtke found the back of the net as the opening half was winding down. LU's Erin Iwaskiewicz made a valiant effort but Radtke placed the ball just out of her reach for her second goal of the season.
OSU was not able to enjoy the lead long after intermission as the Mountain Hawks scored just five minutes into the period with a goal from Lauren Calabrese.
It was the Cowgirls turn to answer and it came from Jolene Schweitzer, the all-time leading scorer at OSU. Schweitzer found the back of the net at the 55:43 mark after taking a feed from Ashlyn Brantley and streaking down the field for a breakaway goal.
Brantley scored the final goal of the contest off a penalty kick in the 86th minute. The kick was set up after Jere Boykin was fouled in the box while attempting a header.
Oklahoma State held a 12-5 shot advantage in the contest and took four corners to Lehigh's zero.
Jeanne Rankin made her first start in goal for the Cowgirls, making two saves and allowing one goal.
Oklahoma State returns to action at 7 p.m. on Friday, taking on Tulsa as part of the Oklahoma Shootout on TU's campus.
