Cowboy Cross Country Kicks Off Season in Wichita

The Oklahoma State men's cross country team begins the 2004 season Saturday at the 56th Annual J.K. Gold Classic. The meet will be held at the RAFT Golf Course in Augusta, Kan.

Redshirt junior Sean McCabe will lead a young but talented squad for the Pokes. Also running for Oklahoma State will be redshirt freshmen Chris Stoves, David Jankowski, John Dixon, and true freshman Brian Gosnell.

The Classic marks the start of Dick Weis' 22nd season as head coach of the Cowboys, who are coming off a season where they finished second at the Big 12 Championships and 16th at the NCAA's.

The Pokes competed in the Classic last year and took third behind Wichita State and Southwest Missouri State. This year the competition includes host Wichita State, Pratt Community College, Friends University, and Bethel College. Start time is set for 10:30 a.m.
