Cowboy Newcomers Impress In Initial Workout
August 09, 2004 | Cowboy Football
"This was a normal freshman practice," said head coach Les Miles after the morning session. “This is a talented group of guys that should come along and have a future at Oklahoma State." Coach Miles also complimented the group of walk-ons that joined OSU's newcomers for Monday's session. "I think this is a very strong group," Miles said.
The Cowboys were on the artificial surface of Boone Pickens Stadium for 2-1/2 hours in their initial workout. OSU's veterans are scheduled to take the field for their first workout late Monday afternoon.
OSU's schedule for the rest of the week will be much the same as Monday's. Newcomers will workout in the morning with veterans in the afternoon through Thursday. Friday, a combined squad will don full pads for the first time for a single workout.
OSU's preseason workouts are closed to the public, unless otherwise noted. The Cowboys will open the 2004 season on Sept. 4 in Los Angeles against UCLA.
