Byler Named Big 12 Newcomer Of The Week

Oklahoma State forward Candice Byler earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honors, it was announced Tuesday by the conference office.

The Cowgirls opened the season with a pair of wins at the Banknorth Classic hosted by Vermont. OSU defeated Vermont, 2-1, on Saturday and followed with a 3-1 win against New Hampshire on Sunday.

Byler scored a goal in both of the Cowgirls games. The Laguna Niguel, Calif., native notched the deciding goal in the win against Vermont and the equalizer in the New Hampshire contest. Byler capped off the weekend by earning all-tournament honors.

Oklahoma State (2-0) returns to action when it travels to William & Mary and Lehigh for a pair of games this weekend.
