Cowboys Prepare to Break Fall Camp
August 21, 2004 | Cowboy Football
The morning practice began on the turf at Boone Pickens Stadium. The Cowboys spent most of the session practicing short yardage situations and goal line plays. The defense was able to stop the offense a majority of the time.
The defense is ahead of the offense at this point during preseason practice. It was evident again during the afternoon session that the defense was ahead of the offense.
“ I think the defense is ahead of the offense,” head coach Les Miles said. “I think they are playing well. There is a lot of team speed on the field.”
The Cowboys still have a lot of preparation to get ready for UCLA in the Rose Bowl on Sept. 4, but Coach Miles says this is where he thought his team would be at this point during the preseason. He added that they will make a lot of improvement in the next two weeks.
The coaching staff will see how much improvement has been made when they take the field for a 2 p.m. practice tomorrow at Boone Pickens Stadium. The Cowboys will run several plays live during a three hour practice that is closed to the public.
