That is one of the main reasons why I came here. My town is supporting me and it is a great feeling.
Did you attend many OSU football games when you were growing up?
No, but I watched a lot. I did come to one game, while I was being recruited and I liked the energy. There are a lot of Cowboy fans in Guthrie and I just kind of got into it.
Was the proximity to your hometown the main reason for choosing Oklahoma State?
It is one of the main reasons, but it is also a great football program. It is close so I knew I would not get homesick. It is nice not being far away and having hour drives. It is just nice being near my home.
What other factors helped influence your decision?
I will actually have an opportunity to play in a few years and not get buried on the depth chart. Stillwater is a good town and I feel real comfortable here.
Are you learning anything by watching the veterans on the offensive line?
I watch them do their footwork and techniques. I am getting better by watching them, and when I go in I try to do it better every time.
Is it exciting to get the chance to play alongside a preseason All-American (Sam Mayes) in practice?
It is a little overwhelming at times. It just kind of hits me, and I realize who is next to me. I just have to shake it off and focus on my assignment.
How is practice different now than it was in high school?
It is a lot faster and a lot more time consuming.
How big of a thrill was it to win a state championship during high school?
That was one of my biggest accomplishments. I think that was the first time Guthrie ever won a state championship, but we did it and it was a great thing. That was probably the biggest thrill of my life.
What are you looking forward to in your first season at Oklahoma State?
I am just excited to be here and to be around a great group of people. I will probably redshirt my first year, but I am excited to be a part of everything.
What has been the biggest adjustment to this level of college football?
The biggest adjustment will be managing my time. I will have to study along with playing football.
