Cowboys Continue Two-A-Day Practices
August 17, 2004 | Cowboy Football
OSU went through a pair of 2-1/2 hour workouts in full pads, enjoying the heat and using it as an opportunity to get in game day shape for their contest at UCLA on September 4.
“Today's heat was a little bit better,” stated Miles following Monday's second practice. “We stayed in the stadium confines this afternoon so the heat coming from the turf would give us a few added degrees.”
Greg Jones and Mike Hamilton saw considerable action in practice and broke for some good runs but Miles urged that too much should not be read into today's practice which was not live.
“Both Greg and Mike help us round out the roster and make sure we have guys ready to go but we are saving some of the other guys for live action,” commented the fourth-year head coach. “Mike is talented, has good vision and will be a heck of a back. He is big and strong but is still a freshman and it takes time for the knowledge to catch up with the physical ability. That aspect is hindering his development somewhat. When he gets more comfortable he will play more like he is capable.”
The Cowboys continue their alternating two-a-day practice schedule on Tuesday, holding one practice at 3:30 p.m.
