2003: Jones started in all 12 regular-season games and played in all 13 games at right corner. He finished with 68 tackles on the season. He was second on the team with three interceptions and also had seven pass breakups. Robert also served as a kickoff returner, returning a team-high 17 kick returns for a 19.7 yards per return average. He recorded four stops along with a pass breakup against Kansas and also returned two kickoffs for 41 yards against the Jayhawks. He made five total tackles against Texas and returned two kicks for 35 yards. Jones made five stops and broke up two passes against Oklahoma and made four stops against A&M. He made five tackles against Texas Tech and had a 27 yard kickoff return. Robert made five tackles, returned two kickoffs for 66 yards, and also recorded an interception for the second-straight game against Kansas State. He led the Cowboys with nine tackles, including an interception and pass breakup, against Louisiana-Lafayette. He finished with four tackles, including one for loss, against SMU and tied for the team lead with eight tackles against SMS, including one for loss, while also recording his first-career interception. Jones also returned two kicks for 44 yards against the Bears and made one tackle against Wyoming, while also returned two kickoffs for 36 yards. He started in his first game for the Cowboys and made eight tackles and recovered a fumble against Nebraska.
NEO: Robert had a magnificent career at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in Miami. For the Norsemen, Jones intercepted two passes as a sophomore. He was also a dangerous kick returner and had 17 kickoff returns at NEO for 502 yards, including a 97 yarder he returned for a touchdown. Robert was rated as the ninth-best junior college defensive back prospect in the nation, and the No. 36 juco prospect overall according to CollegeFootballNews.com. He was also recruited by Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas State and Tennessee.
High School: He was All-State and all-district and led Carl Albert High School in interceptions two straight years.
Personal: Born Feb. 24, 1983, Robert is the son of Donna Nichols. He is majoring in education at Oklahoma State.
