Josh Henson
July 29, 2004 | Cowboy Football
Henson took over coaching a position that lost three players to the NFL and he molded a group of young and talented performers into a solid core by the end of the season, as evident by one tight end being named to the Sporting News All-Big 12 Freshman Team. Henson also played an integral role in the Cowboys successful 2002 recruiting class, which received mention in several national publications.
Henson was a four-year letterwinner at Oklahoma State from 1993-97 and was voted a team captain in 1997. He was a starter on the offensive line on the 1997 Alamo Bowl squad and was a second team All-Big 12 selection following the 8-4 campaign. Henson's awards went beyond the football field as he was given the L.L. Boger Award as a senior, recognizing his outstanding academic and athletic achievements at Oklahoma State. He garnered honorable mention All-Big 12 plaudits in 1996 and finished his career with 40 starts in an OSU uniform.
Henson graduated from Oklahoma State with a bachelor's degree in 1998 and started his career as a high school and junior varsity football coach in Kingfisher. In his one year there, he helped guide the Yellowjackets to the state semifinals.
Henson returned to OSU as a graduate assistant coach in July of 1999 and spent one season assisting with the offensive line. In May of 2000, he left Stillwater to go into private business in Fayetteville, Ark.
Henson was born on July 14, 1975 and currently resides in Stillwater with his wife, Shauna. The Hensons have one son, Will.
