Cowboys Land Heavyweight Transfer
July 02, 2004 | Cowboy Wrestling
STILLWATER, Okla. Â Oklahoma State is not known for producing many heavyweights, but with the addition of Iowa transfer Steve Mocco, that could change.
Mocco is coming off of an Olympic redshirt year. Mocco took the silver medal at the U.S. Freestyle National Championships and finished third at the U.S. Olympic trials in his bid to make the Olympic team.
Mocco went 37-3 as a freshman and lost in the NCAA title match. His sophomore year at Iowa was a little better going undefeated and winning the individual title at heavyweight, including 15 victories by fall.
The addition of Mocco will make the Cowboys the overwhelming favorite to repeat as champions in March. OSU already boasts two champions in its lineup and is returning four All-Americans.
Mocco will have two years of eligibility remaining and will be eligible to compete in the fall.
