Cowgirl Track Competing at NCAA Championships

Valentina Medina qualified for the 1,500m final Thursday evening at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by the University of Texas at Mike Myers Stadium.

Medina's preliminary time of 4:19.09 is a Venezuelan national record for the junior from San CrÃstobol. The final will be run Saturday evening.

Junior Michelle Prowse will run in the 5,000m final on Saturday evening. Her best time this season entering the event is 16:20.

Delisa McClain finished her junior campaign with a solid performance in the hammer throw, finishing 15th with a throw of 192 feet, 2 inches.

“Delisa made a big improvement this season,” head coach Rene Sepulveda said. “Coach Steer was able to correct and perfect Delisa's technique in the in the hammer this season. She was able to introduce Delisa to a competitive strength training program. With another year working with Coach Steer, Delisa could finish as an All-American next season.”

The meet is scheduled to conclude Saturday evening.
