Oklahoma State Outlasts Kansas in 14

Kansas grabbed the lead in the top of the 14th inning on an RBI single by Sean Richardson. Oklahoma State came right back and tied it on an RBI single by Rusty Ryal. Wright followed with the homerun to end it.
The Cowboys trailed by four runs when the game was delayed for 30 minutes by a thunderstorm. OSU scored two runs in the eighth and ninth innings to force extra innings after the delay.
Wright was 4-for-6 with four RBIs and the big homerun to end. Scott Kirby also contributed three hits.
Ritchie Price went 5-for-7 with three RBIs in a losing effort for the Jayhawks.
OSU is now 24-13 on the season with a 7-4 record in Big 12 games, while Kansas fell to 24-19-1 with a 2-10 mark in league play.
Scott Richmond came out of the bullpen in the third and was effective for the next 10 innings allowing just one run on eight hits, while striking out eight. Carver replaced him in the 13th inning and earned the victory to improve to 3-0.
Jared Schweitzer lifted a fly ball into the wind that carried over the fence for a two-run homerun to give Kansas a 2-0 in the second. Matt Baty added an RBI single and Ritchie Price followed with an RBI double in the inning.
The Cowboys got on the board in the bottom half of the inning with back-to-back doubles by Chris Gutierrez and Keanon Simon.
Travis Metcalf added a solo homerun in the third for the Jayhawks to make it 5-1. Price made it 6-1 with an RBI single.
Scott Kirby answered in the bottom of the third with a two-run double into the left field corner.
Kansas padded the lead in the top of the seventh with an RBI single that fell in front of Keanon Simon in center.
The Pokes posted a rally in the bottom of the eighth after a 30 minute rain delay. A pitch hit rod Allen and Chris Gutierrez walked. Both runners advanced on a ground ball by Rusty Ryal. Ty Wright came through with two outs with a single to left to score both runs and make it a 7-5 game.
Kansas pitcher Sean Land walked the first two Cowboy hitters in the bottom of the ninth. Mario Matulich sacrificed both runners into scoring position. Rod Allen blooped a single to left that scored both runs to tie the game and send it to extra innings.
The Cowboys return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to play the Arkansas Razorbacks. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
