March 08, 2004 | Cowboy Baseball
OSU improved to 10-4 with the win, while Indiana State fell to 1-6.
Rightfielder Rod Allen had a two-out two-run single in the fourth, while second baseman Rusty Ryal and catcher Jason Jaramillo both had RBI singles in the frame to help extend the lead to 6-0.
OSU added a run in the fifth to make it 7-0 when Scott Kirby extended his hit streak to 16 games with a leadoff triple and scored on a balk by reliever Joe Thatcher.
Indiana State got on the board with two unearned runs on RBI singles by shortstop Josh Prickett and rightfielder Jereme Hatler.
Kirby added a two-run homer in the ninth, his second of the year, to extend the lead to 9-2. Centerfielder Keanon Simon would later add a two-run single and Rod Allen added another two-run shot to left-center to make the score 13-2. Jason Jaramillo added a RBI single to close out the scoring.
Reliever DeWayne Carver picked up his first win in an OSU uniform, while Sycamore starter Brian Woods took the loss to drop to 0-1. Carver pitched a very effective three innings of scoreless relief, with a walk and two strikeouts.
Josh Fields staked the Pokes to a 1-0 lead in the first on a RBI double down the right field line.
Oklahoma State will head home and have the week off before hosting Louisiana Tech in a three game series next weekend.
