What's On Tap
Oklahoma State completes its stretch of nine of 11 games on the road this weekend, as the Cowboys travel to Lake Charles, La., to participate in the Lake Area Classic. OSU will open against host McNeese State on Friday at 7 p.m., and will take on Southern Miss on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Pokes will close out the tourney on Sunday against Indiana State at 11 a.m.

About McNeese State
McNeese is 6-8 heading into a Wednesday night contest against Grambling. The Cowboys took two of three from Northern Iowa at home over the weekend under first-year head coach Chad Clement.
McNeese finished 31-30 last year and made the NCAA postseason after winning the Southland Conference tournament.
Freshman outfielder Charlie Kingrey leads the team with a .354 average in 13 games, while the Cowboys as a team is batting just .240 with four homers and 69 runs scored in 14 games.
Sophomore lefthander Chris Denton is expected to start against OSU on Friday. He is 2-1 on the year with a 0.99 ERA in four appearances with 34 strikeouts in 27.1 innings. Denton picked up the win against Northern Iowa on Feb. 27, going 8.1 innings and allowing two runs, one earned, with seven strikeouts.
About Southern Miss
Southern Miss is 7-1 on the year heading into a Wednesday night tilt with Louisiana-Monroe. The Golden Eagles defeated the Indians 10-3 on Tuesday, extending their win streak to four games. USM returns six position starters from last year's Conference USA championship and NCAA tournament squad that went 47-16 and hosted a regional.
Shortstop Matt Sheperd leads the team with a lofty .567 average and five stolen bases in eight games. Second baseman Jarrett Hoffpauir is the top RBI guy with 14, while designated hitter Jody Blount leads the team with three homers. The Golden Eagles hit .325 as a team and have scored 74 runs in eight games.
Junior righthander Cliff Russum is the ace of the USM staff and has not been scored on in two starts. He is 2-0 with 14 strikeouts in 14 innings and has allowed just four hits in 45 at-bats. Through eight games, the staff has a 3.25 ERA while holding opponents to a .224 average.
About Indiana State
Indiana State is 1-3 on the year after going 1-2 in tournament action last weekend in Evansville, Ind. The Sycamores defeated IPFW and fell to Ball State and Butler at the Governor's Cup. ISU is coming off a 36-22 campaign in 2003 and a fifth place finish in the Missouri Valley.
Designated hitter Marcus Artner leads the team with a .455 average through four games, while the team is hitting at a meager .228 clip.
Righthander Matt Zaleski led the team to its 5-0 win over IPFW with seven innings of two-hit ball. As a team, the Sycamores have a 5.45 ERA including 31 strikeouts and 23 walks in 33 innings.
Rew Named Big 12 Co-Pitcher Of The Week
Cowboy senior pitcher Daniel Rew of Fayetteville, Ark, and Texas sophomore pitcher Sam LeCure of Centertown, Mo., have been named as Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Baseball Pitchers of the Week in voting by a select panel of media covering Big 12 baseball for games played from Feb. 24-Mar. 1.
Rew, a righthander, went 1-0 with a save in two games last weekend. He came on in relief against South Florida with one out in the eighth inning and the tying run at the plate in a 6-4 game. Rew pitched 1 2/3 innings and picked up his second save of the year. The Arkansas resident then came back on Sunday to pitch a complete game shutout over Virginia Tech 2-0. He allowed just six hits while striking out nine to improve to 2-0.
On the year he has made two starts and won both and has saves in his two relief appearances. Rew has allowed just one run in 22 innings (0.41 ERA) with 17 strikeouts and has limited batters to just a .171 batting average.

After the Lake Area Classic, OSU will play seven of its next nine at home ... Josh Fields is tied for sixth in the conference with a .439 batting average ... Spencer Grogan is tied for first in the Big 12 with three wins, while his 2.18 ERA ranks eighth ... Daniel Rew's 0.41 ERA is second in the conference ... Freshman Ty Wright is 16th in the league with a .362 batting average ... Scott Kirby carries a 13 game hit streak into the weekend tourney, the team's longest streak this year ... Brett McDonald recorded his first career save against Dallas Baptist (2/21) and then saved his second game in a row against TCU (2/24) ... OSU .969 fielding percentage is third best in the Big 12 ... The Pokes dropped their first game against a starting righthanded pitcher against DBU after starting 6-0 this season.

Every Oklahoma State game will be broadcast this season on the KSPI network of stations. Rex Holt, host of the extremely popular “The Game” talk radio show, will once again call all of the action for the Cowboys.
Both Friday and Sunday's games can be heard on 93.7 FM, with Saturday's game coverage to be determined.

Cowboys Rally Falls Short To Dallas Baptist
Former Cowboy Ryan Olivo returned to Allie P. Reynolds Stadium wearing Dallas Baptist colors, and he came up with three hits including a pair of triples and a couple of runs scored to lead the Patriots to a 6-4 victory.
The Cowboys staged a dramatic rally in the bottom of the ninth. OSU loaded the bases off of Aaron Mitchell. Mitchell walked Felix Peguero to bring in a run and was promptly replaced by Stuart Sutherland. Chris Gutierrez brought in a run on a fielder's choice and Kyle West followed with a two-run double to make it 6-4. The threat ended there as Rusty Ryal struck out for the final out.
The Patriots collected five extra base hits with: two doubles, two triples and a homerun, while Lance Broadway pitched seven scoreless innings to improve to 3-1 on the mound.
Dane Mason suffered his first loss of the season and fell to 2-1 after giving up four runs in 6.1 innings of work.
OSU had their six game winning streak snapped and fell to 8-3, while DBU improved to 10-4 on the season.
On Deck
Oklahoma State will head home and have the week off before hosting Louisiana Tech in a three-game series next weekend. The Bulldogs are 6-8 on the year and will play Alabama, Kansas State and Centenary at the Gent Classic this weekend, then host Lamar in a two-game midweek series before heading to Stillwater.

Fans can listen to coach Frank Anderson on his weekly radio show every Monday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on 93.7 KSPI FM. The show will be hosted by Rex Holt and will take place at Freddie Paul's Steakhouse in Stillwater.
Coach Anderson will also have a weekly television show that will debut later in the season.
