Oklahoma State Rallies Past Southeast Missouri State 10-8

OSU improved to 18-9 overall, while SEMO fell to 10-13 on the year.
Josh Fields opened the eighth with a bunt single off of Anthony Maupin and advanced to second on a passed ball. Maupin struck out Jason Jaramillo and got Ty Wright to ground to short before walking Scott Kirby. Fields stole third and Kirby would later steal second before Matulich's high chop infield hit to relief pitcher Brad Smith.
Lefty Brett McDonald (1-0) pitched 3.2 innings of scoreless relief to pick up his first win of the year. He allowed just one hit to go along with a career-best six strikeouts.
Anthony Maupin (3-3) allowed two runs in 2.2 innings of relief in the losing effort.
Fields and Matulich led the Pokes with three hits each, while Eric Horstman and Frankie Montiel led the Indians with three hits as well.
Southeast Missouri State scored four runs in the opening stanza and knocked out Cowboy starting pitcher Dane Mason in the inning. Bryan Kurt and Gary Gilbert both had RBI singles, while the other two runs came on a bases loaded hit by pitch and an RBI groundout.
OSU scored a run in the bottom of the first on an infield single by Josh Fields and plated two more in the second on a bloop single by Keanon Simon to cut the SEMO lead to 4-3.
Josh Fields put the Pokes ahead with a two-run homer in the third, but the Indians responded with four runs in the fourth to take back the lead, 8-5. Freddy Lopez had the big hit in the inning, a three-run double to lead the Indians comeback.
OSU rallied to tie the game with a three-run fifth, highlighted by a two-out two-run double by Rusty Ryal.
The Cowboys and Indians will close out the two-game series tomorrow at 4 p.m. OSU will then host Texas A&M in Big 12 Conference play this weekend. Game times are set for 7 p.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
