William Bell, DE

Belton, Texas (Belton HS)
Bell is a powerful force at defensive end that is just as adept at playing the run and rushing the passer. He was named to the preseason third team All Texas Super Team in Texas Football. During his senior season Bell made 80 total tackles with 17 of those behind the line of scrimmage and he had eight sacks. His performance during his senior season earned him not only All District honors, but the district Defensive MVP award. He was also named to the All CenTex team and is a Texas Top 100 prospect. Bell is taller, but he will remind Oklahoma State fans of Greg Richmond. Bell is physical, but his greatest attribute could be his speed. Equally effective against the run and the pass. Beyond being a well used backup as a freshman, the sky is the limit for Bell.
Jeray Chatham, OL

Chatham was on the Cowboys list of offensive line prospects from the beginning of this class. He is an outstanding athlete for his size and moves very well. He is a two-time All District selection, All Greater Houston, Top Lineman Award at Westfield, and a Texas Top 100 prospect. He is an excellent prospect to play guard in the Cowboys offensive system that calls for guards to move a lot. He was recruited by Arizona, Iowa State, Iowa, Miami, LSU, Nebraska, Colorado, Texas A&M, Missouri, and Oklahoma. He started as a high school sophomore on a team that finished 12-2. An excellent athlete, Chatham was singled out very early in recruiting as a primary target for Oklahoma State.
Maurice Cummings, DE
6-4, 240
Rosebud, Texas (Lott HS)
Defensive end prospect who has already arrived at Oklahoma State and will have a chance to make quick impact. Cummings earned two varsity letters at Lott High School and was named All-District and All-State after his senior season under coach Bill Baine. He had 107 tackles, one of the top tackle totals in class 2A. Cummings has all the physical tools and outstanding quickness for his 6-4, 240-pound frame.
Prentiss Elliot, FB

Tulsa, Okla. (TSST)
One of the top prospects in the state, he turned heads all over Oklahoma with 2,515 yards rushing and 29 touchdowns as a prep senior. He even rushed for 428 yards in a single game, while he topped the 200 yard mark in six games. Elliot was named All District and All State by both The Tulsa World and The Daily Oklahoman. He was also recruited by Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas State, Kansas, and Tennessee. He has been called a fantastic athlete by several recruiting publications and was dominating as a tailback. He has speed, natural strength, and is explosive at the point of contact. The numbers he put up are even more impressive because they came against quality competition.
Mike Hamilton, TB

Melbourne, Fla. (Melbourne HS)
Hamilton is a Florida Top 100 prospect that rushed for a school record 4,267 yards and a school record 53 touchdowns. As a senior he had 1,591 yards and 19 touchdowns. In his last game against Titusville, he had 322 yards rushing. That was one of two 300 yard plus games he had and he also had two games where he scored five touchdowns. Those numbers earned him All District and All State honors in addition to being rated by recruiting analyst Tom Lemming as a Top 100 National Prospect. Hamilton was also listed as a Florida Top 30 prospect. He was named Space Coast Offensive Player of the Year by Florida Today. He has played baseball in past years, but will run track at Melbourne this spring. He was recruited by Ole Miss, Florida and Florida State.
Stephen James, SS
5-11, 185, 4.5
Galena Park, Texas (North Shore)
James is a hard hitting safety who is mature and very strong for his size and age. He had three interceptions and had a fourth that he returned for a touchdown called back on a penalty. He helped lead Galena Park North Shore to an unbeaten season and the 5A Division I State Championship in Texas. His senior season numbers included 65 total tackles, three interceptions, three fumbles caused and two fumbles recovered. He also scored three touchdowns. He also excelled on kickoff returns. He is a two-time All District player and was named All Greater Houston. Graduated from high school in December and will benefit from going through spring drills with the Cowboys.
John Johnson, FB
6-3, 235, 4.8
El Dorado, Ark. (El Dorado HS)
Johnson is another outstanding prospect that stepped in at tailback in his final high school season with six games to go and ended up rushing for 1,000 yards. His coach says he is a bruising blocker that has such good hands that he has lined up at tight end. Very strong, He is a two-time All District Player and was named to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette Top Seniors list.
Roderick Johnson, LB
6-3, 220, 4.55
Galveston, Texas (Ball)
This Texas Top 100 prospect has great speed and will come to Oklahoma State with a chance to make a quick impact as an outside linebacker. He was preseason third team All Super Team in Texas Football. Johnson didn't disappoint in his senior campaign. He had 74 tackles, four sacks, two fumbles forced, and two fumble recoveries this past season. He earned All District honors and All State in addition to being placed on The Dallas Morning News Texas Top 100 list.
Philip Jones, WR

Denton, Texas (Ryan HS)
Talented wide receiver from Ryan High School is Denton, Texas who graduated in December and has already arrived on campus. Jones earned three football letters and one in basketball. He was named All-District and All-State after an outstanding senior season. Jones was an integral part of two straight state championships. Over his high school career, Jones had 71 receptions for 1,500 yards and 21 touchdowns.
Seth Newton, WR
6-3, 175, 4.5
Girard, Kan. (Girard HS)
His high school coach called him “the most athletic player I've ever coached.” This Cowboy prospect is one of the top receiver prospects in Kansas after a spectacular season for a playoff bound district champion. He is a versatile athlete that projects as a wide receiver at Oklahoma State. Newton's prep career statistics include 92 catches for 1,820 yards and 24 touchdowns. He had 26 kick returns for 457 yards and 31 punt returns for 785 yards and four touchdowns. On the defensive side, he had seven career interceptions. He was also a three year starter in basketball and a member of the National Honor Society. He was on the top prospects list in several Kansas newspapers and earned All District and All State honors. Newton has excellent size and the speed to develop into a very productive wide receiver. He has seen the passing game from both sides, having played some quarterback.
Nathan Peterson, DE
6-3, 240, 4.65
Tulsa, Okla. (Union HS)
One of the best high school players in the country who played on one of the best high school teams in the country. Peterson had 122 tackles on a loaded defense for the 2002 Class 6A State Champs at Tulsa Union. He is a great combination of size, speed, and strength at defensive end. This season he fought off injuries to help Union make it to the semifinals. He was All State in both The Tulsa World and The Daily Oklahoman. He was also All District. He was recruited by Oklahoma, Arkansas, Nebraska, Kansas State, Texas A&M, Colorado, and Tennessee. He was widely considered the top prospect in the state of Oklahoma and a national top 100 prospect. Peterson gained a reputation in high school for his tremendous work ethic and worked with a personal trainer throughout his prep career. He graduated from Union in December and will have the added advantage of going through spring drills with the Cowboys. There is a long line of Oklahoma State tradition in Nathan's family. His mother (Shelley Smith) and his father (Mike Peterson) as well as an uncle attended OSU.
Brandon Pettigrew, TE
6-5, 225, 4.76
Tyler, Texas (Lee)
Pettigrew was primarily a blocker in high school, and also saw some action on defense. Pettigrew came on strong during the season and is now considered one of the best tight end prospects in Texas. He was an All District and All East Texas player as a senior. Texas A&M, TCU, SMU, and Arkansas were also recruiting Pettigrew. Certainly possesses the physical tools with 4.76 speed to go along with a 6-5 frame. Pettigrew was one of three players from Reed High School to be named to the Texas All-State squad.
Robert Reid, QB
6-4, 220, 4.5
Galena Park, Texas (North Shore HS)
One of the top quarterback prospects in the country, Reid arrived at Oklahoma State after graduating from high school in December. He has all the tools to put himself in position to make a quick impact. He has a very good arm and the athletic ability to run like a tailback. Reid ran the option more than he threw the ball in leading his team to an unbeaten championship season. North Shore rolled over all opponents to the Class 5A Division I Championship Game. He ran for three touchdowns in the 23-7 championship win over The Woodlands and threw a long pass to set up one of his touchdown runs. In the 42-7 semifinal win over Austin Westlake, Reid had a 44 yard touchdown run and touchdown passes of 55 and 10 yards. Overall, he accounted for 38 touchdowns (22 passing and 16 rushing) as a senior and a combined 2,650 yards. Reid earned the Houston Touchdown Club Offensive Player of the Year, All Greater Houston, All District, District MVP, National and Texas Top 100 recruiting lists, and attended the prestigious Elite 11 Quarterback Camp in California. He was recruited by Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, Kansas State, Ohio State along with many others. Tom Lemming of ESPN rates Reid as one of the top 100 prospects in the country.
Jason Ricks, K
6-1, 182, 4.55
Round Rock, Texas (Westwood HS)
This versatile player did it all at the high school level. He is a talented kicker as well a wide receiver. Over his last two prep seasons he averaged more than 40 yards per punt and punted for a 41-yard average this past season. He had a school record 13 field goals as a junior and equaled that going 13-of-15 on field goals this season with a long kick of 49 yards. He was also perfect on extra points. As a junior he was first team All District punter, kicker, and wide receiver, and was second team All CenTex kicker and punter. Senior year he was All District kicker and punter and first team All Centex kicker and second team punter. Ricks was also recruited by Arizona, Texas A&M, and Texas. In one game (vs. Dewey) in his senior season, Ricks had six receptions for 150 yards and three field goals in a 36-6 win.
Walter Thomas, DL
6-5, 340, 5.0
Galveston, Texas (Ball HS)
One of the top prospects in Texas, Thomas is very strong and projects as an inside technique player on defense. His height makes him equally effective on pass rush as run stop situations. He is a Texas Top 100 prospect and a two-time All District selection. He is good friends with fellow Cowboy commitment and former Ball linebacker Roderick Johnson. Besides Texas A&M, he was also recruited by Houston, Arizona, Oklahoma, Iowa State, and Nebraska.
Chris Simon, OL
6-5, 330, 5.3
Waller, Texas (Waller HS)
Outstanding offensive line prospect, Simon started as a junior and went on to earn All District recognition. Was named All District as a senior and also Class 4A All State by the Associated Press in Texas. He was also selected to play in the USA All Star Game in Houston on the night before the Super Bowl. His team defeated an All Star team from Canada. Simon was recruited by Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Houston, TCU, and others.
Martel Van Zant, CB
6-2, 200, 4.5
Tyler, Texas (Lee)
Highly touted prospect, Van Zant is hearing impaired, but hasn't let his disability hamper him on or off the football field. He is a ferocious tackler that played cornerback last season at Lee. Van Zant is considered one of the top defensive back prospects in Texas. He finished his career with 21 interceptions, had 39 tackles and 10 passes defended his senior season. Van Zant, despite not being tested much by opponents earned All District, All East Texas, and was named on the Texas Top 100 prospect list. He chose OSU over Texas A&M, Colorado, SMU, TCU, and Arizona.
Justin Waller, TE
6-4, 225, 4.7
Ponca City, Okla. (Ponca City HS)
One of the top prospects in Oklahoma, Waller has been a standout for the past two years and earned All District honors for a playoff squad at Ponca City. He played both sides of the football and was a devastating blocker, while also playing very well at defensive end. Waller has worked extremely hard in the weight room, but will be able to add to his frame. He was named All State by The Tulsa World and honorable mention All State by The Daily Oklahoman. He was first team All District and an Oklahoma Top 10 prospect by First Down Sports.
David Washington, OL
6-4, 265, 4.9
Guthrie, Okla. (Guthrie HS)
Washington was a big part of a Guthrie High School team that rolled to the Class 5A State Championship in 2002 and back to the playoffs in 2003. He is strong and very mobile and projects as an offensive guard that will be able to pull. He was All State from The Daily Oklahoman and the Oklahoma Coaches Association as a senior. He was also first team All Big City after being an honorable mention All Big City selection as a junior. He was also an All District selection. He chose the Cowboys over Colorado State.
