Johnny Thompson Receives Jim Thorpe Excellence in Academics Award

Oklahoma State's wrestling team received another honor this season as Johnny Thompson was recognized for his accomplishments in the classroom by the Jim Thorpe Association. The Association honored him with the Jim Thorpe Excellence in Academics Award.

The award is presented to athletes for their role on the field of play and for their achievements in the classroom. This award is one of the proudest awards the Tulsa division of the Thorpe Association is honored to present.

Thompson is one of a handful of three-time national finalists in the country, winning the NCAA tournament twice, and will look to add to his list of accomplishments this year. The Oklahoma City, Okla., native will graduate in May with a degree in secondary education with an emphasis in history.
