Fields, a first-team preseason All-American, will start at third and provide power from the middle of the lineup.
2003: Finished third on the team with a .358 batting average to go along with 12 homers and a team-best 55 RBIs ... was a first-team All-Big 12 pick by the coaches ... started in all 58 games ... played a solid third base, with just five errors and a .968 fielding percentage ... batted .339 in Big 12 play with seven homers and 26 RBIs ... had a 20-game hit streak during the season and ended the year with a seven-game hit streak in tact ... was third on the team with 21 multi-hit games ... led the team with 15 multi RBI games, including four games with four RBIs ... batting average was 14th best in the Big 12 last season ... 12 homers tied him for sixth best in the conference ... top game was 4-for-5 showing against Texas-Pan American (4/15) in which he hit for the cycle (single, double, triple and homer) with four RBIs ... had another four hit game against Northwestern Oklahoma State (4/23) with four RBIs ... recorded a homer in three straight Big 12 games against Missouri (5/3-5/4) and Nebraska (5/11) ... had game-winning homer against Texas Tech (5/18) in the series finale ... 2002: Batted .383 with three homers and 29 RBIs in 43 games ... made 22 starts, 14 at DH and eight at first base ... had 12 multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI games ... opened his collegiate career going 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored against Prairie View A&M (2/11) ... went 3-for-5 with a homer, triple and two RBIs against Kansas State (3/23) ... hit a game tying three-run homer in a loss at Baylor (4/6) ... is perfect on all four of his stolen base attempts ... went 3-5 and drove in two runs against Oral Roberts (4/15) ... went 3-4 against Texas (4/26) ... was 3-for-5 with a solo homer and two-run double against Texas (5/23) ... named a honorable mention Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball ...also named to the Big 12s All-Freshman team ... Fields also started all 13 games for the OSU football team and set school records in touchdown passes (31) and yards (3,145) ... touchdown passes tied for third best in the country and was second best in the Big 12.
HIGH SCHOOL: The Daily Oklahoman Player of the Year and Stillwater News Press Player of the Year as a senior at Stillwater High ... also named the Frontier Conference Player of the Year ... picked up all-region plaudits in 2001 as well ... batted .478 with 13 homers, 20 doubles and 64 RBI as a senior ... led the Pioneers to a 36-8 ledger and an appearance in the Class 6A title game ... was an all-conference selection for three seasons and a four-year letterwinner on the baseball diamond ... played Sun Belt baseball in the summer of 2001 ... also excelled in football, picking up all-state honors as a senior ... threw for 2,019 yards on 119-of-208 passing with 19 touchdowns ... was considered one of the top prospects coming out of Oklahoma in both football and baseball.
