Cowboy Golf Finishes Second At Mercedes-Benz Collegiate

The Cowboys, who entered the day in third place, tallied a 24-over-par, 888 total to overtake Clemson and finished tied with Florida. South Carolina ran away with the team title coming in at 861, three-under-par.
Freshman Casey Wittenberg posted his second top 10 in three career outings, finishing in ninth place at 218, two-over-par after carding a one-over 73 during his final 18 holes. Texas' Jason Hartwick fired a final-round 67 to finish at 211 and claim a three-stroke victory in the individual race.
Sophomore Zack Robinson notched his second consecutive top-20 finish after coming in with a 71 to tie for 12th place at 220, while junior Alex Norén dipped into a four-way tie for 34th place at 225 after a final-round 76.
Freshman Tyler Leon broke par for the first time in the event, carding a one-under 71 to move up 12 spots and finish tied for 41st place at 227.
Senior Pär Nilsson rounded out the Cowboy lineup with a 54-hole total of 231, 15-over-par, after his 77 on Tuesday.
OSU will return to action on Feb. 22 when it travels to San Juan, Puerto Rico for the Puerto Rico Classic.
