Whitehead will see action in middle relief and could close on occasion.
2003: Went 0-1 with a 8.78 ERA in 12 appearances ... made one start and picked up first career save against against Baylor (4/13) ... did not allow a run in six of his 12 appearances ... longest outing was 4.1 innings in a start against Western Illinois (5/19) in his final appearance of the year ... struck out a career-best three against the Leathernecks.
2002: Made four appearances without giving up a run or factoring in a decision ... collected 3.1 innings of work with one strikeout, two walks and three hits given up ... saw extensive action with the Arlington As in summer ball ... posted a 1.38 ERA in 26 innings with 38 strikeouts.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a first-team all-state selection as a senior at Nolan Catholic High ... also was named all-district, all-area and the Nolan Pitcher of the Year ... lettered for four seasons under Coach Art Senato ... played for the Arlington As in American Legion ball over the summer and helped lead the team to the Texas Regional Finals ... also considered Texas A&M, Tulane and Southwest Texas.
PERSONAL: Likes playing golf in his free time ... a business management major ... son of Ron and Mary Whitehead ... has one sister, Kristine ... born on April 15, 1983 ... career goal is to own his own restaurant ... favorite sports team is the Texas Rangers ... chose OSU because he wanted to be a part of the winning tradition of OSU baseball.
