Billy Bajema Named First Team Academic All-American
December 03, 2004 | Cowboy Football
Senior tight end Billy Bajema was named to ESPN The Magazine's Football Academic All-American first team today.
Bajema, a four-time first team Academic All-Big 12 member, was one of just two players from the conference to earn first team honors. Nebraska linebacker Chad Sievers was the other student-athlete.
Bajema, who was named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete earlier this fall, has a 3.7 cumulative grade point average as a pre-medicine and general business double major. A three-year starter, he is currently second on the team with 18 catches for 264 yards and a touchdown.
He is the 11th Cowboy to receive Academic-All American honors and the second to receive first-team recognition in the last three years (Kyle Eaton, 2002).
