Cowboy Golf Advances To Championship At Hooters Match Play

The second-seeded Cowboys began the tournament with a 3-2 victory on Sunday over defending NCAA champion and No. 15 seed California before rain delayed the second round until Monday morning.
Freshman Pablo Martin, who is currently ranked No. 1 nationally, cruised to victory at the No. 1 spot for OSU, disposing of Michael Jensen, 4 and 3, while junior Chris Clarke picked up a 4-and-3 win over Frederick Svanberg.
Playing in just his second event of the fall, sophomore Zac Reynolds rolled to a 5-and-4 win at the No. 5 position over Eric West.
A matchup with No. 7 seed Florida ended with a 4-1 OSU victory as senior Alex Norén paced the Cowboys, winning 5 and 3 over James Vargas. Clarke and Reynolds were impressive again in victory as well, while Martin won two of his final three holes for a 2-and-1 win over Richard Treis.
OSU returned to the course on Monday afternoon and promptly took four of its five matches against Big 12 foe Texas A&M.
At the top spot with Martin picking up a 2-up victory, while junior Zack Robinson logged his first individual win at the event, defeating Andrew Parr 4 and 3.
Clarke and Reynolds both ran their records to 3-0 for the event, turning in a 3-and-2 triumph over David Schultz and a 2-and-1 win over Jerad Harklau, respectively.
The championship match will pit OSU against top-seeded Georgia Tech with action slated to begin at 8 a.m. (EST).
