November 19, 2004 | Cowboy Wrestling
Mike Bizzle, Brandon Shelton, Tyler Shinn, Jimmy Matlock and Jared Rosholt all signed letters, and will be eligible to compete at Oklahoma State in the fall.
Bizzle, a senior at Cascia Hall in Tulsa, has already won three state championships, and will be seeking his fourth at 119 pounds. Bizzle has compiled a career high school record of 124-5 thus far.
Shelton is currently the ninth-ranked wrestler in the country at 130 pounds for El Reno High School. He won the last two state championships wrestling at 125 pounds.
Shinn won two state championships at Newkirk High School before transferring to Ponca City for his senior season. Shinn has gone 128-8 as an 130-pounder, the last three years.
Matlock is a two-time state champion at Stillwell High School.
Rosholt, the brother of current OSU wrestler Jake Rosholt, is the top ranked wrestler in the country at 215 pounds. He has accumulated a record of 150-5 in his high school career. Rosholt is a three-time state champion, with two of his titles coming in Idaho before moving to Ponca City.
There was an emphasis at the lighter weights in this class. Coach Smith believes that he found his future heavyweight in Rosholt, after Steve Mocco graduates.
“We are excited to sign all of these Oklahoma kids,” Coach Smith said. “We see all of them making a contribution to Oklahoma State wrestling in the future."
