“We ran well, but one of our runners didn't finish as good as we wanted her to,” head coach René Sepulveda said. “Not finishing in the top two kept our team from getting the automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.”
Other Cowgirls that competed, but did not score for the team were freshman Eva Tomankova and sophomore Jennifer Edwards, who finished with times of 22:25.18 and 22:54.11, respectively.
The Cowgirls' third-place finish was right behind Regional Champion Missouri and runner-up Illinois. The top two schools received the automatic bids to the NCAA Championships.
