Cowgirl Soccer Continues Conference Play
October 06, 2004 | Cowgirl Soccer
Oklahoma State wraps up a four-game road swing this weekend, traveling to Texas Tech and Baylor. The Cowgirls are looking to end a two-game skid after dropping a pair to Texas A&M and Texas last weekend. OSU will face Tech at 7 p.m. on Friday and conclude the weekend with a 1 p.m. match at Baylor on Sunday. Live stats will be available for Sunday's game at Baylor game on www. okstate.com.
The series between the Cowgirls and Red Raiders is tied 4-4-0 but OSU has won the last three meetings. The Cowgirls posted a 6-0 shutout in 2003 and earned a 2-1 win on their last trip to Lubbock. Baylor leads the all-time series with Oklahoma State 5-2-0 but the Cowgirls have held the Bears scoreless in the previous two meetings. The last time the Cowgirls traveled to Waco they were on the wrong end of a 3-2 overtime decision.
Scouting Texas Tech
Texas Tech is 3-9-0 overall and still looking for its first Big 12 win following losses to Kansas and Iowa State last week. After winning three of their first five the Red Raiders have lost seven straight. Priscilla Esquivel leads the team with 14 points off seven goals followed by Jennifer Thomas with eight points. Three different keepers have seen action in at least four games. Tina Rincon leads the trio with five starts and 35 saves but Beth Lippert has played more total minutes.
Scouting Baylor
Baylor enters the weekend at 4-6-1 overall and 1-3-0 in league play. The Bears defeated Texas in overtime then lost a pair to Iowa State and Kansas on the road last weekend. Anna Schuch leads the team with four goals and four assists. Tiffany Boshers chips in with eight points and Margaret Kaderli with six. Ashley Holder has played nearly 1,000 minutes in goal, making 63 saves with a 1.63 GAA.
Head Coach Karen Hancock
Karen Hancock is in her ninth season at Oklahoma State and 11th season overall. Hancock built OSU's program from scratch in 1996 and the hard work paid off when the 2003 Cowgirls won the Big 12 Tournament and earned a first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament. Hancock reached a coaching milestone earlier this year against Louisiana-Lafayette, picking up her 100th career win.
Looking Ahead
Oklahoma State returns to the Cowgirl Soccer Complex next weekend to host Kansas and Iowa State. The Cowgirls and Jayhawks take the field Friday night at 7 p.m. The weekend concludes with a noon meeting with the Cyclones on Sunday.
