Cowgirls Saddle Up for Big 12 Meet
October 27, 2004 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
This season, the Cowgirl's have won three meets and have had strong performances from freshmen Mary Davies, Barbora Kuncova, Kim Blomkvist, Eva Tomankova and from junior Michelle Prowse.
Davies has finished first-place twice and also had a second-place finish and was named Big 12 Runner of the Week for the first time in her collegiate career.
With the solid performances by the Cowgirl's, they have been able to do it without junior Valentina Medina.
Medina, was the 2004 Big 12 champion in the 1,500-meter, and then finished 12th in the 1,500m final at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. She will compete in her first meet of the season.
“It's nice to have Valentina back and healthy,” head coach René Sepulveda said. “She adds needed depth to our squad.”
Medina, is expected to contribute to the Cowgirl's score.
Along with Medina will be a talented group of Davies, Kuncova, Blomkvist, Tomankova, and Prowse. The Cowgirls also expect good runs out of seniors Lisa Bowles and JoAnna Fedick, and sophomores Jennifer Edwards and Maria Trejo.
The women's Big 12 Championship 6K race will start at 10:00 a.m.
