Cowgirl Soccer Falls To No. 9 Texas A&M
October 02, 2004 | Cowgirl Soccer
Texas A&M jumped out to a 1-0 lead off a goal from Ashlee Pistorius in the 19th minute. Amy Berend took a shot that deflected off the post and the ball landed in front of Pistorius who was waiting for the putback. It was an unlucky situation for the Cowgirls as the ball looked like it would miss wide but narrowly caught the post to stay in play.
The Aggies had a two-goal lead at halftime after scoring at the 39:35 mark. Madison Klovstad took a corner kick and Amanda Burke was in place for the header on far side. Oklahoma State attempted to cleared the shot but the referees determined that it was cleared after the ball had crossed the goal line.
A&M gained some valuable breathing room late in the second period, scoring with just under 20 minutes to play. Pistorius took a feed from Becky Olson and dribbled through the Cowgirl defense for her 12th goal of the season.
Oklahoma State was outshot by the Aggies 24-6, marking just the second time this season an opponent has accomplished the feat.
Adriane Radtke led the OSU attack, taking four shots, and Katie Lacey and Jeré Boykin each took one.
Oklahoma State (9-1-1) returns to action on Sunday, wrapping up the weekend in Austin with a 1 p.m. match against Texas.
