Media Luncheon Quotes
Head Coach Les Miles
On the last game
“This certainly is a talented football team. The way we started the Texas A&M game is not us. That is not how we play, that is not how we have operated up until this point. We did everything that we could to prepare for our opponent. I thought that the team played well in the second half, and that we played smarter. When you play better opponents, you cannot afford to spot them a quarter.”
On preparing for Missouri
“I think we have to be focused and understand who we are. We have to play like we are capable of playing. We need to have confidence and know that we are a good football team. We know that we can win against good football teams. They understand the mistakes that were made, and they certainly have the motivation to correct those.”
On the difference between Texas A&M and Missouri
“The speed of the game has certainly been demonstrated to us at the quarterback spot. It is different. It is not the same scheme and setup. We will have to apply our abilities to Missouri's talent as opposed to Texas A&M.”
On Brad Smith
“He is a very talented quarterback. He can throw the ball very well. I think he is an exceptional runner as well. We have had to prepare for two very good quarterbacks.
On his team
“I think our football team, if they play solid football on offense, defense and special teams, and they put it together, they can beat a good number of Big 12 teams. As long as they do not spot an opponent an opportunity, which they did on Saturday.
OSU Players
Safety Jon Holland On Missouri's offense
“I know they are about a 50/50 team when it comes to running and passing the ball, so we are just looking forward to that.”
On preparing for Brad Smith
“Both Brad Smith and Reggie McNeal are the same kind of quarterback. They are running quarterbacks, with draws, sprint outs, bootlegs and options. Both of them have the same mentality.”
Tight End Billy Bajema
On the Texas A&M game
“Receiving wise it was a good night, but it's hard to come away feeling good when you lose like we did. Really all we can do is focus on Missouri and get ready to play this week and bounce back.”
On rebounding from a loss
“I think the focus is just going out in practice and working hard, doing the things we've done that got us to 5-0. Prepare the best we can for this game, and come out and do what we have to do.”
On preparing for Missouri
“We know it's a big game, and we know Missouri is a good team. They are a team that we are going to have to come out and play a good game to beat. We feel like we can go there and come back with a win.”
Defensive Lineman Clay Coe
On giving up big plays
“I think a lot of it is just being out of place. Being out of position just by a step can hurt you. Ever since I've been playing this game coaches have told me this was a game of inches. Whenever you don't make a shoestring tackle or you get tripped up by a guy, that's what happens. Whenever you do those things against a team with good athletes, things aren't going to go in your favor.”
