2003: The sophomore bulked up to 174 pounds where he notched a 30-2 record ... he wrestled in the NWCA All-Star match where he saw his first loss to West Virginia's top-ranked and defending national champion Greg Jones ... he went perfect in dual action at 14-0, while accumulating 45 dual points ... Pendleton attained the top seed at the conference tournament after cruising through the regular season at 5-0 ... he defeated third-ranked Robbie Waller of Oklahoma three times and fourth-ranked Tyler Nixt of Iowa twice ... he captured his first Big 12 individual title after defeating Missouri's Jon Sioredas, 7-6, and OU's Waller, 6-3 ... the win over Waller marked the fourth on the year ... at the Kaufman Open, Pendleton defeated two ranked opponents en route to the title ... in the semifinals, he defeated then ninth-ranked Eric Hauan of Northern Iowa, 3-2 ... in the finals he faced off with Iowa's then third-ranked Tyler Nixt ... with the score tied 2-2 heading into sudden victory, Pendleton scored a takedown to knock off Nixt en route to the title ... Pendleton recorded his second title at the Reno Tournament of Champions ... he recorded a major decision over Shannon Sams of UC-Davis and a technical fall of Clarion's Dave Gardner before defeating Pittsburgh's Carl Fronhofer, 11-7, in the semifinals ... in the finals, he squared off with Appalachian State's All-American Mark Fee ... Pendleton scored five takedowns en route to the 12-7 victory ... he earned his first All-America honors after finishing third in the NCAA Championships ... at the tournament he won his first two matches before falling to Lehigh's Brad Dillon, 3-2 ... he then came back with a 16-2 major decision over Eddy Gifford of Fresno State and a 12-8 decision over Fee ... in the consolation semifinals, he blitzed Oregon's Shane Webster with a 17 second pin, the quickest in the tournament ... in the third-place match, he faced masked-man Curtis Owen of Arizona State ... Pendleton blew open the scoring, recording five takedowns and a three-point near fall en route to a 17-4 major decision.
2002: Pendleton wrestled in open tournaments for the Pokes, compiling a 13-2 record ... he placed second at the Cliff Keen Open and the Oklahoma Open ... he recorded victories at the Roger Denker Open and the Central Missouri State Open ... at the CMSU Open, he avenged a loss to Iowa's Tyler Nixt in the finals to record the victory ... at the University Freestyle Nationals, he won his first five matches to advance to the championship round, but fell to Minnesota's Damion Hahn, 13-5, for second place ... in his 13 victories, he recorded six falls, two technical falls and five decisions.
2001: Pendleton went into the starting lineup after senior Ty Wilcox went down with a knee injury ... he went on to post a 15-7 record for the Cowboys, including a 3-3 mark in dual action ... out of his 15 victories, seven were by fall.
High School: Pendleton claimed the 2000 California State Championship at 145 pounds and was named the Outstanding Wrestler in the process ... in his senior campaign, Pendleton posted a 68-2 record with 58 falls ... he was a two-time NHSCA All-American, placing fourth at 145 pounds at the 2000 Nationals ... his career record at Lemoore was 178-15 ... he also won the Reno Tournament of Champions ... he was named a Wrestling USA Magazine first-team All-American.
Personal: Chris is the son of Bill and Lisa Pendleton ... He has two brothers, Jacob and William ... In his spare time he enjoys weight lifting, reading, skiing, wakeboarding and coaching wrestling ... He is a sociology major and was born on Jan. 21, 1982.
