OSU Wrestling Competes in 1000th Dual in History

Oklahoma State returns to the friendly confines of Gallagher-Iba for a pair of duals against Northern Iowa and Iowa State. The Cowboys are fresh off winning their seventh National Duals title in team history. The Cowboys will wrestle UNI Friday night at 7 p.m and ISU Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. OSU enters the weekend fresh off winning its seventh national duals title. The Cowboys defeated Cornell (22-12), Oklahoma (29-10), Michigan (20-13) and Missouri (24-12) en route to the title. Five Cowboys went through the weekend without seeing defeat. Johny Hendricks knocked off a pair of ranked wrestlers in Ryan Bertin and Kenny Burleson. Tyrone Lewis, Chris Pendleton and Jake Rosholt all went 4-0, while Zack Esposito went through four ranked wrestlers to end the weekend at 4-0, too.
On the Panthers
Brad Penrith is in his fourth season as the head coach of the Panthers. He has compiled a 37-26 record over the past three years. Last year, he led UNI to a 12-6 dual record and an 11th place finish at the NCAA Championships. UNI returns a pair of All-Americans in Dylan Long and Sean Stender. Long was runner-up at 141 pounds to Teyon Ware, while Stender placed sixth.
On the Cyclones
Iowa State enters the dual with a 12-3 record on the season. The Cyclones have recorded wins over Lehigh, Minnesota and Iowa. The win over the Hawkeyes was the first win in over 30 years. Bobby Douglas is in his 11th season at ISU with a 155-62-3 record. The former Oklahoma State wrestler and hall of famer has coached for 30 years, and has compiled a career record of 384-155-9. The Cyclones return one All-American in Zach Roberson, who placed fourth at nationals a year ago. He has compiled a 21-1 record thus far this year.
