Hendricks Named Big 12 Wrestler of Week
January 22, 2004 | Cowboy Wrestling
During the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals last weekend, Hendricks posted a 3-0 record while helping the Cowboys post their seventh title in team history. The Cowboys posted a 4-0 record at the event, defeating Cornell (22-12), Oklahoma (29-10), Michigan (20-13) and Missouri (24-12)
Hendricks did not wrestle in the first round of the Duals, but against OU in the quarterfinals he pinned Matt Grice in four minutes. This performance was followed by the upset victory over second-ranked and defending national champion Ryan Bertin of Michigan (6-5 - second tiebreaker). In the finals versus Missouri, he defeated his second Top-Five opponent in Kenny Burleson (3-1).
The Edmond, Okla., native has posted a 25-4 record this year, with 13 of his wins coming in bonus point fashion. The Cowboys return to action Jan. 30-31 for duals against Northern Iowa and Iowa State, respectively. The UNI match will mark the 1,000th dual in OSU history.
