Cowgirl Soccer Blanks Western Kentucky To Open Season

Oklahoma State's soccer squad opened the 2003 season with a shutout of Western Kentucky on Friday night in Bowling Green, Ky.
Senior forward Jere Boykin opened the Cowgirl scoring with an unassisted goal at 25:04.
Shorty after the goal both teams were called from the field due to lightning in the area. After a 90 minute delay the game was resumed.
The break sparked the Cowgirls as Boykin, along with senior midfielder Joanne Edwards, assisted freshman midfielder Adriane Radtke at the 33:15 mark that gave the Cowgirls a 2-0 halftime lead.
Freshman midfielder Ashlyn Brantley opened the second half scoring by taking an assist from Edwards at 55:10. Junior forward Jolene Schweitzer capped off the game with a goal at 72:21 which was assisted by senior Kim Graves.
Junior Kathrin Lehman started the contest in net and registered one save. Erin Corbin completed the shutout by playing the final 28 minutes and also registering one save.
Oklahoma State (1-0) will travel to Little Rock, Ark. to play Arkansas-Little Rock Sunday at 1 p.m.
