Cowboy Golf Finishes 11th At Ping/Golfweek Preview

The fourth-ranked Cowboys' 36-hole total of 591, 31-over-par, was one shot behind Arizona State and 19 off the pace set by tournament champion UCLA. The Bruins recorded a two-under 278 team total to finish one stroke ahead of Georgia Tech in the team race.
Individually, OSU freshman Tyler Leon led the way, posting a top-20 finish in his first collegiate outing. The Dallas, Texas, native followed up yesterday's round of 71 with a 74 to finish at 145, five-over, and tied for 20th place. UCLA's John Poucher claimed medalist honors with a two-under total of 138 and was one of just two players to break par.
Sophomore Chris Clarke remained in a tie for 28th place after carding a final round of 72 to come in tied with five other players at 146, while fellow sophomore Zack Robinson moved into a tie for 42nd place at nine-over after Tuesday's round of 73.
Junior Dayton Rose posted rounds of 75 and 76, respectively, to finish at 151, 11-over, and tied for 55th place. Junior Alex Norén rounded out the Cowboy lineup with a 77 to finish in 71st place with a 36-hole total of 157.
OSU will return to action on Oct. 6 when it travels to Glenview, Ill., to take part in the Windon Memorial.
