2002: Lewis became a two-time All-American after placing third at the NCAA Championships. Lewis dropped to 165 pounds, where he posted 30 wins against four losses, and accumulated 84 dual points in his 22 dual victories. Lewis won his first 18 matches of the season before losing to top-ranked Joe Heskett of Iowa State at the National Duals. He was one of three Cowboys selected to wrestle at the NWCA All-Star Match, but lost to second-ranked Matt Lackey of Illinois. Lewis avenged his loss to Heskett by defeating him 7-5 in sudden victory, propelling OSU to a 25-16 victory in the second dual in Stillwater. He fought his way to the semifinals at the NCAA Championships before falling to Lackey, 6-4, in sudden victory. Lewis pinned Seth Cameron in 1:34 in the first round, and then defeated Nick Frost and Doc Vecchio before falling to Lackey in the semifinals. In the wrestlebacks, Lewis defeated Eugene Harris, 8-2, en route to a third-place finish.
2001: Tyrone finished the season with a 30-6 overall record, while posting 12 falls. Lewis went 14-4 in dual action, finished out the season by winning the Big 12 Tournament in the 174-pound weight class, and placed fifth at Nationals, earning All-America honors.
2000: Tyrone finished the 2000 season as an up-and-coming star for the Cowboys. He went 13-0 on the season while posting wins over top-20 competition such as West Virginia's Joe Carr and Air Force's Scott Frohardt. He won titles while wrestling unattached at the Fort Hayes Open and the Oklahoma Open. After the collegiate season ended, Lewis was selected to wrestle for Team USA in a freestyle event against Iran in Tulsa.
High School: A native of El Reno, Okla., Lewis was one of the most highly touted recruits in the nation. He was a two-time state champion and a two-time state runner-up. He finished his career with a 139-4 overall record and went 94-1 over his junior and senior seasons. He also won two high school national championships in that span of time, earning All-America honors along the way. Tyrone finished third at the USA Junior National Freestyle Championships and sixth at the USA Cadet National Greco Championships.
Personal: Tyrone is the son of Benita Fraziar. He has two brothers, Jimmy Lewis and Kevin Fraziar, and two sisters, Stephanie and Corain Lewis. He is majoring in education at Oklahoma State, and he enjoys fishing in his spare time. He was born Nov. 29, 1979.
