Cowboy Baseball Starts Fall Practice
September 16, 2003 | Cowboy Baseball
The Cowboys have six position starters returning from last year's team which finished 34-24. OSU will have over 20 newcomers on the 2004 squad, including 11 pitchers.
The pitching staff will look to replace three drafted players who saw significant action last year including 2003 Big 12 Pitcher of the Year Scott Baker, who was drafted in the second round by the Minnesota Twins in the amateur baseball draft.
Returning to anchor the offense will be All-America catcher Jason Jaramillo and first-team All-Big 12 third baseman Josh Fields, who will miss fall practice due to football.
Junior southpaw Spencer Grogan is the lone starting pitcher back from last year, and he will be joined by senior reliever Daniel Rew, who led the Cowboys with five saves a year ago.
The Cowboys will practice at 2:30 p.m. daily with intrasquad scrimmages starting between 4-4:30 p.m. The preliminary fall schedule is expected to last three weeks, but it is subject to change.
