Team USA Advances Two More to Quarterfinals

Daniel Cormier earned a trip to the quarterfinals after cruising to a 10-0 technical fall over Ricard Pauliukonis of Lithuania. Cormier started his scoring spree at the 34 second mark with a two-point turn, and then added a two-point gut three seconds later to extend his lead to 4-0.
The U.S. Nationals Champion built a 7-0 lead after capitalizing off an arm throw. With one second ramaining in the first period, he capitalized off a three-point throw to record the technical fall.
Team USA's heavyweight, Kerry McCoy, advanced to the quarterfinals after pinning Mahammad Davud Abdulla of Azerbaijan in 2:32. At the 1:04 mark, Abdulla was called for passivity, and McCoy then scored on a two-point gut to take the early lead.
The four-time U.S. Nationals Champion added a single leg takedown before cradling Abdulla for the fall to advance to the quarterfinals.
Jamill Kelly saw his first loss in the tournament to nemesis Serguei Rondon of Cuba. The Cuban capitalized on nine points in the first period en route to a technical fall over Kelly.
At 74 kilograms, Joe Williams dominated Venezuela's Jhonny Cedeño before pinning him in 4:51. Williams took a quick 3-0 lead with a takedown and a two-point turn, and added another two-point turn at the end of the first period.
The four-time World Team Trials Champion a pair of takedowns in the second period before recording the fall at 4:51.
The quarterfinals will start at 5 p.m. (EST) in the 'Big Apple's' Madison Square Garden.
