Cowgirl Soccer Opens 2003 Season

Oklahoma State's soccer team opens the 2003 season on Saturday, hosting SMU for an exhibition contest at 7 p.m. at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex.

SMU posted a 13-6-4 record during the 2002 campaign and finished first in the Western Athletic Conference. Eighteen letterwinners and seven starters return from last year's team that reached the second round of the NCAA tournament.

OSU had a record-setting year on the field in 2002, posting the best finish, 13-7-0, in program history including 10 consecutive wins to start the season. Twelve letterwinners and eight starters return after earning the program's first-ever appearance in the Big 12 Tournament.

Saturday's game will mark the first meeting between the Cowgirls and Mustangs.
