Cowboys Clinch Series With Second Win Over Sooners

The victory also guarantees OSU a five seed in next week's Big 12 Tournament. The Cowboys (38-18, 15-14) will play an opponent that will be determined by tomorrow's games next Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Oklahoma (23-30, 13-15-1) scored first in the ball game with two runs in the first inning.
The Cowboys tied the game in the second inning as Luke Scott's 15th home run of the year cleared the right field wall, scoring Paul Powell.
The Sooners answered with a run in the third inning as Greg Dobbs' triple scored Sergio Garcia.
Oklahoma State tied the game at three runs apiece in the fifth inning as Jimbo McAuliff reached on a single and scored on Nebasett Brown's single up the middle. The Cowboys then took the lead for good in the sixth as Paul Powell and Scott hit back-to-back singles and Zach Cates' double plated Powell. McAuliff then singled, scoring Scott and Cates to bring the run total to 6-3.
Sophomore Mike Miller picked up the win for the Cowboys in his longest outing of the year, going 7.1 innings and allowing only three runs on seven hits. Joe Weaver recorded his first save of the season, pitching the final inning and striking out two batters.
Offensively, the Cowboys were led by McAuliff, who went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Powell and Scott both turned in 2-for-4 performances for Oklahoma State.
The two teams will be back in action for the final game of the series tomorrow at Bricktown Ballpark. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
