Cowboy Baseball Edges Past Baylor, 2-1

All three runs in the game were unearned as the teams combined for six errors in the contest.
The Cowboys opened the scoring in the top of the third when Ront' Langs hit a grounder to third which Baylor third baseman Matt Williams threw away allowing Curt Anthony to score from first base.
OSU added another unearned run in the fourth when Toby Rhodes scored off a sacrifice fly to center by first baseman Luke Scott to give the Pokes a 2-0 lead.
The Bears scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to cut the OSU lead to 2-1. Preston Underdown hit a double to right-centerfield off of Matt Smith and advanced to third when rightfielder Michael Lorsbach bobbled the ball. Underdown scored on a RBI groundout to the pitcher by Steve Dorneman.
Smith pitched six and a third innings and gave up three hits while striking out seven and moved to 2-1 on the season with the win.
Rusty Rushing pitched the final two and two thirds innings to pick up his second save of the season. Rushing held the Bears scoreless and walked one while striking out four.
Hawkins pitched the complete game for Baylor giving up just three hits while striking out nine, yet dropped to 2-2 with the loss.
The Bears and Cowboys will meet in the second game of the doubleheader at 7 p.m. CST.
