Aztecs Take Second Game From Cowboys
June 05, 2003 | Cowboy Baseball
Yuma, Ariz. - The Cowboys fell for the second time to the Aztecs, 10-3, in the centerpiece of a three-game set that opens the 23rd-ranked Cowboys' season.
After SDSU starter Chris Hartshorn gave up three runs in three innings of work, relievers Marcos Mendoza, John Skinner, Mike Garber and Rory Shortell combined to yield only two hits and no runs over the last six innings.
The Cowboys had their chances to put some runs on the board, but Mendoza and company forced OSU to strand 13 runners in the contest.
The Aztecs would add another run in the fifth, two in the seventh and three more in the eighth to put the game away.
The series will conclude Sunday at noon at Desert Sun Stadium when the Aztecs will look to make it three in a row over OSU.
