Cowgirl Distance Runners to Compete in Tyson Invitational
June 04, 2003 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
The meet, which will be held at the University of Arkansas' Randal Tyson Track Center, will run from Friday afternoon to Saturday evening.
OSU will be joined in the meet by Big 12 Conference rivals Baylor, Colorado, Kansas and Texas.
"We haven't had a chance this year to see what Texas is all about," said Coach Catrina Acosta. "I'm looking forward to seeing them in action."
Last weekend, Junior Alexandra Lindquist made her first indoor season appearance. At the Kansas Invitational, she placed first in the 1,000m run. In addition, Senior Sara Wells is among the top 20 runners in the Big 12 in the 3,000m run.
At the Kansas Invitational, many of OSU's 20 freshmen runners competed for the first time in their collegiate career.
"Last weekend was good for my new kids, but this coming meet is a big time meet. I'm really excited to see what these girls are going to do. This is going to be their first pressure situation," Acosta said.
