Par Nilsson Named to European Palmer Cup Team

The Cowboy junior and the rest of the eight-man squad will compete against the U.S. team July 7-11 at The Kiawah Island Club’s Cassique Course in Kiawah Island, S.C.
Nilsson, a first-team All-Big 12 selection as well as a second-team Academic All-Big 12 pick this year, has posted four top-20 finishes in eight starts. The Ljungsbro, Sweden native's best finish came at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate in March where he tied for seventh place.
In addition to Nilsson, the European team will consist of Alejandro Cañizares and Gonzalo Castaño of Spain; Sweden’s Wilhelm Schauman; and David Inglis, David Price, David Skinns and Oliver Wilson of the United Kingdom. The team will be coached by Keith Williams (English Golf Union) and Peter Mattsson (Swedish Golf Union).
The U.S. team, which includes Nilsson’s OSU teammate Hunter Mahan, leads the Palmer Cup Series 4-1-1 and has won all three matches in the United States.
