Cowboy Baseball Has 10 All-Big 12 Honorees

OSU tied Nebraska for the most first team selections with four, led by senior center fielder José Virgil (.381, 11 HRs, 54 RBIs). Junior hurler Scott Baker (10-5, 3.79 ERA), who led the Big 12 with 10 wins on the year, was also named a first-teamer along with sophomore catcher Jason Jaramillo (.385, 9 HRs, 42 RBIs) and sophomore third baseman Josh Fields (.358, 12 HRs, 55 RBIs).
Junior relievers Shane Hawk (7-3, 3.06 ERA, 2 Saves) and Daniel Rew (2-0, 3.96 ERA, 5 Saves) were named to the second team, while the Cowboys added four honorable mention members as well. Junior first baseman John Urick (.348, 13 HRs, 53 RBIs), junior designated hitter Mario Matulich (.305, 9 HRs, 45 RBIs), junior outfielder Lyndsey Simmons (.352, 25 RBIs) and freshman shortstop Chris Gutierrez (.304, 1 HR, 23 RBIs) closed out the OSU contingent.
Nebraska swept the Player, Pitcher and Coach of the Year awards with first baseman Matt Hopper, Aaron Marsden and Mike Anderson winning the recognition respectively.
