Cowboy Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader From Western Illinois

The Cowboys improved to 34-22 on the year, while WIU fell to 25-36.
Cory Von Tungeln, Jose Virgil and Mario Matulich each slammed home runs to help OSU come away with an 11-4 victory in the first game.
Justin Ottman gave up two runs on four hits over five innings to pick up the win and move to 3-0 on the season.
Trevor Benson took the loss for WIU and remained winless at 0-3.
Aaron Whitehead took the hill for the Cowboys in the second game and worked four strong innings before getting into trouble in the fifth.
The Leathernecks loaded the bases and got an RBI single from Ryan Schmidgall before walking Blake Schultz to score the second run of the inning. Thomas Cowley came in and walked in another run before striking out Aaron Milliken and Joe Rooney to end the inning.
Virgil extended his hitting streak to 19 games with an RBI single in the home half of the fifth. Josh Fields followed with an RBI and John Urick gave the Pokes the lead with a two-run single, but was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double.
Reliever Joe Weaver walked in the tying run in the top of the ninth, but the Pokes responded with a run in the bottom of the ninth when Jose Virgil scored on a throwing error by the Leatherneck first baseman.
OSU will be the sixth seed in the Big 12 Tournament and will take on third seeded
