Josh Fields Powers Oklahoma State Past Texas Tech 4-3

LUBBOCK, Texas Josh Fields two-run homer in the top of the eighth put Oklahoma State on top and they held on to defeat Texas Tech 4-3 in front of 3,301 fans at Dan Law Field on a hot Sunday afternoon in Lubbock, Texas.
Chris Gutierrez got things started in the eighth on a nifty slide at first base to avoid a tag. He moved around to third base on a single by Lyndsey Simmons. Jose Virgil came through with a sacrifice fly to cut the Tech lead in half. Fields provided the late-inning heroics one batter later and the Pokes went on top 4-3.
OSU improved to 32-22 on the season and 14-13 in the Big 12, while Tech dropped to 30-25 and 8-18 in conference play.
The loss eliminated Texas Tech from the Big 12 Tournament.
Shane Hawk picked up his seventh win of the year in relief to improve to 7-3 on the season.
Steve Gooch stifled the Cowboy hitters for seven innings until the eighth inning when he gave up three unearned runs to record the loss and fall to 4-5 on the season.
Scott Kirby gave OSU the lead in the top of the second with a solo homerun to left field, his 11th homerun of the season and second of the series.
Tech mounted a two-out rally to take the lead with three runs in their half of the second. Cooper Fouts executed a hit and run to score T.J. Bruce from second. Josh Haney followed with a two-run double down the left field line to give the Red Raiders a 3-1 lead.
The Cowboys will take on the Leathernecks of Western Illinois in a tune-up for the Big 12 Tournament Monday night at
