Cowboy Baseball Ranked Preseason No. 23

The Cowboys return four position starters and six pitchers from last year's team which finished 46-21 and advanced to the College World Series for the 19th time.
Stanford is the preseason favorite to win the 2000 College World Series, according to the newspaper's annual preseason survey of NCAA Division I baseball coaches across the country. The Cardinal, which finished third at last year's College World Series, return seven position player starters and three pitchers off a team which finished with a 50-15 overall record and Pac-10 championship.
Six Big 12 schools were ranked in the poll led by Texas at No. 12, followed by Baylor at No. 16, Texas Tech at No. 18, Texas A&M at No. 21, Oklahoma State at No. 23 and Nebraska at No. 39.
Other area teams ranked include Oral Roberts at No. 30 and Arkansas at No. 32.
The Collegiate Baseball newspaper NCAA Division I poll is the oldest college baseball poll. Its birth took place during the 1957 college baseball season.
